Learning Series: Improving the Lives of Boys and Men of Color

Thursday, December 9, 2021 - 11:30am to 1:00pm

This hour and a half presentation will look at a gender-specific cycle of intergenerational disadvantage and how that cycle can be interrupted. Adopting a two-generational approach by tying interventions together that change outcomes for children and parents simultaneously can tackle disadvantages. Focusing on BMOC (Black Men and Men of Color) highlights the disproportionate impact of disadvantaged families has on male educational outcomes, employment and earnings, high school enrollment, college enrollment and completion, and rates of violence victimization and offending, crime and incarceration.
